So you may have noticed that the Textiles Inspiration has been a tad ‘Printed Textiles‘ heavy. I guess that is what inspires me the most, but every now and again you come across a designer who uses a different medium and blows your mind. Sandra Backlund is one of those!
Laduma Ngxokolo Xhosa Knitwear
Just had to share this designers knitted sweater collection with you. Laduma Ngxokolo is a knitwear designer from South Africa and takes inspiration from his Xhosa roots. The sweaters have intricate patterns and designs which are taken from the inspirational beadwork of the Xhosa people. I have always loved African textiles and seeing designers using their rich African heritage as inspiration. Laduma is the international winner of the Society of Dyers and Colourists (SDC) Design Competition.
